Hazards of Texas Livin'

Last night I was driving home from Target. I went shopping at night to finish my Easter shopping sans children. I was in our subdivision, passing over a grassy ditch area, when my headlights caught an animal ahead, moving funny. I thought, that squirrel is sure running funny. When I got closer I realized it was a snake slithering down the middle of the road, like he owned the place. EW! EW! EW! I have only one phobia and it is snakes. I cannot even see them on TV. I wasn't sure if I had run him over, so when I got home I made Hubby empty the van, just in case he hopped a ride. I am glad we brought "T" over with us. Having a cat on the property makes us less likely to have snakes. T keeps the area rodent free.

Then tonight they were forecasting some really bad weather. Apparently Hubby came home and put out the trash for tomorrow morning. About an hour later, during part of the really bad rainfall, Buttercup told us that the trash had been blown over. So, we were out in the middle of our street picking up trash in the pouring rain. I have to say that it wasn't that bad. We got soaked, but the rain was warm. I think the girls are going to enjoy the rain in the summer when it's really warm. But I have never had to pick trash up off the street in the rain before. Makes me grateful there was nothing embarrassing in the trash this week.
****not my trash!

I just can't handle snakes either. Not in pictures, tv, or any other form. They creep me out.

Sorry about the trash. That is why I only like to throw things away in bags. Easy cleanup, no embarrassing stuff visible.

It used to crack me up the animals we would see when we lived in the south. Like a turtle in the middle of the road. Not a lot of that in dry Utah. Once we saw a skink, which is like a snake with legs/very large lizard -- that kind of gave me the heebie-geebies. Enjoy your warm rain. That sounds lovely, in spite of the trash mess.
