San Antonio and Hotwire.com

We are here in lovely San Antonio. It's been a nice trip. I picked another day to come to the theme park when no one is here. I actually took a picture of the empty parking lot when we left. We had a great time. There is a roller coaster I wish I would've gotten on, but I am getting older and my back and neck can't take as much as it used to. I got on a couple of fast and bumpy ones with Buttercup, which made her extremely happy. I actually got on some water rides this time because it was warm enough outside to actually enjoy the wet clothes.
I have to put in a plug here for Hotwire.com. I was looking at hotels and they were so expensive here. I couldn't find anything remotely nice for under $130! That was way too much. Hotwire is a bit nerve racking. You just put in the amount of hotel stars you want to stay in and they list prices. I went ahead and booked an anonymous hotel that was 3 stars and half the price! It turned out to be the Holiday Inn, a nice one, for only $69 a night. What a deal. That said, Holiday Inn still has double beds. America is getting chubbier and I don't know how many people can actually share this room. First I shared with Fiona and that wasn't good. I ended up with her diagonally across the bed. Last night I was back with hubby, which worked out better than I had thought, but he was still tired from the night before and I am sitting here with the starving girls at 9:15am waiting for him to get up or wake up.
San Antonio has an amazing downtown. It would be fun to come down here without children and wander around. We are headed off to the Alamo and a few other historical sites today.

I love a good deal - it makes the trip even funner!
You must have the magic touch. I can't ever pick a good day to miss the crowds.
