I May Have Shot Myself in the Foot

I woke up Wednesday, sent the girls off to school and sat on my bed and thought I feel like doing nothing today, I could even ignore the basket of ironing and the two bathrooms that haven't been cleaned yet this week. So, I sat on my bed and started surfing the 'net while watching trashy shows. It was a perfect start, but I got bored because I had finished reading all of your excellent blogs and had nothing to do on the internet. Then, I remembered my husband's plea to buy him a car that didn't guzzle the gas like it was high fructose corn syrup. He was getting bored trolling through sites that discussed the virtues of Mazda Miatas, Celica convertibles and Beemer Convertibles....are you sensing a trend now? He figured since he had to down size from a truck, he needed a car that screamed man! Uh, yeah... He sat in the Miata and worried about actually fitting into it on a regular basis. Celica convertibles have been difficult to find and the Beemer only likes premium. What? Are you kidding me? Premium, that would kind of defeat the purpose.

What's this? A Honda Civic gets 31-36 miles per gallon? But it is manly enough? Clearly the 4 door is out. But, I can't actually get my hands on one. At every car lot I got to, it's the same story, " Are you kidding? We can hardly buy those wholesale." I drove all over town, Houston's city limits are fairly ridiculous. I finally ended up on the Northeast side of the metro area and managed to find a used Civic coupe that had just been traded in this weekend. They hadn't even detailed it yet. I took it for a drive around a few blocks. It purred, every thing seemed to work and the mileage was really low. So, I bought it....since hubby wasn't there I bought it in my name!! I joked to him if he didn't behave, I would have to take his car away!! Flash back here to high school. But, it's manly enough and does the job we want....save $100s monthly.
So, how does this affect my weekly plans? Well, the time I would've used to take care of housely things was spent buying a car, buying another toll tag, going back to pick up the car, etc.
Today I did clean the rest of the bathrooms and iron the basket of clothes, but there are still things I want to accomplish tomorrow, mainly working out. I don't know how to reconcile these! I guess we will see how I feel when I get up.

You can do it!
You are so close and even though your week through you a curve ball, and not from the person you expected, you can still make it!
How often do you do something for yourself? I am sure it's not enough!

Tell hubby he can repay your kindness with a couple of clean bathrooms and some clean folded laundry.

We are car hunting too. The minivan mpg is repulsive and we don't need that much room anyway.

Nice job! I had to wait MONTHS for a hybrid so I can appreciate how hard it is to get your hands on a fuel efficient car right now. But boy oh boy is it worth it!
