Day 3

This was a really full day. We went to our old Children's Hospital. It was particularly gratifying to take a healthy child to the oncology ward and let our doctors and nurses see the great job they had done in making Fiona healthy again. It was wonderful. They had posted her end of treatment card to their bulletin board, so at least people knew that she was doing well. Her former main doctor said he would be scanning her even less than she is now. He didn't seem surprised at all that she was doing so well.
We also found Krispy Kreme and loaded up on some doughnuts. I still can't believe that a city the size of Houston is missing both Krispy Kreme and See's candies. Trust me, I managed to get a hold of a 2lb box of chocolates while we were down in Medford.
We got to visit with another old friend, who I had done a preschool co-op with. She had had a baby since we had seen her last. It was funny because I was dubbing this the new baby tour. We ended up seeing 5 new additions to our friends and family. I am sure you know by now how much fun that was for me. The girls raced around with her girls having a great time. I love it when we meet up with old friends and it's like we never left.
That night, we ate dinner with my sisters and brother. He had had a baby since we saw him last and it was the first time we got to meet her. Oh and was she a ham. I love babies at that age. She's about 9 months. She makes silly faces and noises and does typical baby things.
TD said he had forgotten about how dark Portland was. The overcast clouds, the cold weather and the drizzle was enough for him. He even got cold while sleeping at night. I think our blood has thinned quite a bit. I also have gotten so used to all of the brick building and larger lots that some neighborhoods I used to love and wanted to live in seemed darker and narrower and not as pretty.
This day, Thursday, we found out that my dad was going to need either a stent or bypass surgery. They wouldn't know until the camera got in there and they could see what they were looking at. I talked to my mom and asked her if she needed us to come down earlier. She said, no your dad will be totally out of it. I said, " Not for him, for you." She said Friday afternoon would still be okay and she would see us then.
