Step Closer to being a Real Texan

So, I got up today and drove myself downtown to apply for Texas plates and registration. Apparently you only get 30 days to change your plates and license. (Don't tell anyone I was breaking the law for a month! I have been busy) I get down there with my old title, my application, my proof of insurance and my environmental checkout and the line was reasonably short. I wait and when I get up to the window I find out that Hubby and I didn't sign everything and they need an original signature, a fax won't do it. We didn't sign the line that said, purchaser, trader, donee, as we did none of those things. I had to get in the car and drive to his work to have him sign it. It really didn't turn out as badly as I thought it would. I think that's why I put it off so long, that and I like being close to home during the day, in case Fiona had problems. It was the first time I had gotten out of the car, while downtown, and walked. Also, the first time being downtown anywhere sans children, kind of weird. I didn't have to hold anyone's hand or avoid jaywalking. That would have been funny to get a ticket for jaywalking while downtown to get my van registered. They handed the plates right over and soon I won't be able to pick out my magic schoolbus in the parking lot by it's Oregon plates.
Buttercup had a headache on Saturday which developed into a fever on Sunday. It was really odd to have a child with a fever and not freak out about it. Buttercup never gets sick and when Fiona gets a temp, we could have to head to the hospital for a few days. Buttercup got her sister's royal treatment, spending the day on the couch, eating her meals on our Meet the Robinson's TV tray. I am grateful she is feeling better today and that Fiona didn't get her fever. I am also grateful I only have to get my driver's license and then I will be totally legal. I just got my Oregon license, with a lovely picture and now I have to attempt it again!

I wish you luck on getting a good DMV photo. Those are hard to come by. My seriously resembles a mug shot.
