The elves managed to catch us unaware again. I told the girls I don't want to catch anyone doing this. It's so nice to get a little special treat everyday, especially in a place where no one knows us. We got three chocolate Santas.
It's interesting to compare where we are now, compared to where we were at this time last year. Checkout video of us at the hospital last year. We show up around 4:25 minutes into it. Fiona was having regularly scheduled admissions from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Last month I was trying to remember what we did for Thanksgiving. It took me a while to remember that we checked in the day before and ate a nicely catered dinner Wednesday night for all of the kids that were admitted. We got out on Sunday and had 3 more admissions in the weeks to follow. Her very last time we got discharged on December 23rd. It was one of the few times that my shop ahead, always be prepared motto really worked for me. I do remember Hubby coming to spell me for a bit, to go home and shower and nap, but instead I went Christmas shopping for him (I always keep him for last). I was so bleary eyed. I think that was the admission where I was convinced that I was on Candid Camera. We didn't get her chemo started until around 11pm. She had a pre-chemo Zofran that went in over some time and then they had to flush the line and start the chemo. Her IV pole rang 8 times over 45 minutes. It was enough for me to get up, ring the nurse, turn off her pole, climb back into to bed, get warm again, nod off and it would start ringing.
What a difference a year makes.

We too enjoyed that delicious catered Thanksgiving meal...the day before Thanksgiving. The holidays in general were strange with no family or friends around us. (We sequested ourselves due to neutropenia and/or hospital inpatient stays.) I hope this year brings you all the joy of a more traditional holiday season. I can't wait to see what future treats your secret santa brings!
Oh my goodness! So much has happened! Are those bruises from you fall healing? wow, those look painful! And you were so close to finishing all that painting... I hope hubby did a good job the way you would have done it! Is it finished now?
I'm so glad you have secret elves. I can't wait to see what else they bring to you!
