Well, the stress from Fiona's scream heard 'round the world seems to have abated. She still pitches a big hairy fit about Childwatch at the Y, but after I peel her off of me, she is fine. Last night probably left bruises, but the second I left I could hear her tone change, so I am glad I peel her off me and have my workout. It makes me feel twice as good, once for having done it and twice for the release of endorphins, I must be addicted.
I also figured out that I haven't been doing some other stress relievers, ie reading. So, this week I read a couple of books that I just couldn't put down, so I thought I'd pass them on.
The first one is A Thousand Splended Suns, written by Khaled Hosseini, who also wrote The Kite Runner. I like this story better. I couldn't put it down. My favorite kind of read is a great story that also teaches history or a good lesson. This did both.
The second book is called Painted Veil by W. Somerset Maugham. I believe they have already released a movie for this book starring Edward Norton and Naomi Watts. I don't know how the movie can be as good as the book. It has a lot of introspection and they don't do a good job of telling you what a character thinks in a movie. The book was so good, I had to slow down my usual speed reading because I wanted to absorb every word.
So, if you are looking for some good summer reading, I would highly recommend both of these books.
Now we are headed off to San Francisco! My favorite city. This includes a stop overnight at my parents house. Hubby was worried about Fiona on such a long trip, so he insists. I am going to stall as long as I can leaving tomorrow so that we spend a minimal amount of time there. Let's hope everything goes well!

You'll be reading this after your trip I imagine, so hope it went well :) Someone just recommended the movie "The Painted Veil" to me, so maybe I need to read the book first. I've heard good things about the other one too, and actually just bought Kite Runner for Matt for Father's Day. Now I guess I need to read them both!
