Back Around

We are back around the chemo time again. I refer to the doctor's visit as chemo time. It's funny, I forget that she gets chemo everyday. The pills she takes at home are still chemo. But, Thursday, she is headed up Pill Hill to get her blood draw and injection. Since we do three month rounds, she has to make her blood counts in order to start again, which should not be a problem at all.
The chemo has been taking more of a toll lately. She is more tired and irritable and less likely to go where I want her to. Hubby and I were wondering, and will ask the doc, if the drugs have a cumulative effect. The longer she takes them, the more they stay in her system? But once again we are back to the steroids, our least favorite. Not to mention I have female problems of the endometriosis type and our cycles have become more synced for some awful reason. It will be harder now the Buttercup will be out of school but we have decided to get her into Y camp on those weeks. She does Y camp every summer and we will just do the weeks after the chemo visits.
I am a bit more worried about her nap taking. Everything that could be termed over tired 5 year old takes on a more ominous tone. Are the drugs working properly? Is her body just tired of them now, or is something more awful lurking in the background?
She looks fabulous, as you can see. Her hair is this iridescent light brown/blond color. From one side, it looks almost silver, but, when you turn it like a hologram, it's just brown again. Also, if you look closely, just above the pink triangle in her shirt, on the right side of her chest( the left side of the picture) you can see her port. It's an access that a surgeon placed under her skin to give her easier access for her medication and blood draws. The other picture is the size of the needle they use to access it. I should have put something in the picture to more properly show the size, but the length of the needle is an inch. Lucky for her, she gets numbing cream before we leave for the hospital.

Her hair looks so cute -- will it fall out again now that you're starting another round? I have a little surprise for her -- look for it in the mail in the next week or so. You might want to open it first and make sure you want your girls to have all the fun junky stuff I got them.

Nope, she should keep it for the rest of the time. We do the same thing until August of next year, they just keep track of it every 3 months. She will love the surprises, she is still having such a hard time lately. At least she will get time off for bad behavior when she is on the steroids starting tomorrow.
