So, I put off getting my driver's license just because I didn't want to spend the time at the DMV with Fiona. But hubby stayed home today after Fiona had another massive meltdown at the YMCA and I figured it would be a good time to head over there. I was standing in the Express lane and observing people, like I enjoy doing. The DMV is a better cross section of the public than I normally get to watch.
There were a couple of guys ahead of me renewing their licenses as well and the lady behind the counter would ask, so are you still 5'9" and 195lbs? That was the first guy...HAHAHAHA. I know that girls always lie about their weight but I never knew that guys lie too badly about their heights. Heights are much more easily measured, people don't drag around their scales. I could have rested my cheekbones on this guy's bald head. I have been 5'10 and 1/4 inches tall since I was 15. Awkward, yes. I have come to appreciate as I have gotten older. But, I would have given this first guy 5'7" and felt generous. Then the next guy gets up to the window and she says, are you still 5'10"? Now, I could have described to you this guy's frosted tips, so I would have given him 5'9" and felt generous as well. Dear hubby says my posture is so good that I am really taller than someone who is 5'11". But, still don't lie about your height guys, it's not like we can't tell. Dear Hubby also says that the guys in the NBA lie ridiculously about their height as well.
Now, I guess we should stop lying about the weight thing too. I am more understanding about that.

This is a topic dear to my heart since my own sweet husband is *ahem* petite, shall we say? I think his true height is near 5'8", but we both call it 5'9". It just sounds better. I think being a short man is not easy in our culture. I just wish he weighed more than me right now.
Hey, don't get me wrong. My hubby is only 5'9" and he slouches! I am lucky, with my height, he outweighs me by a good 40lbs. He says, it's been only recently, that he hasn't felt like one of the taller guys in the room.
Sheesh, long time no comment, right?! I've been super busy but I wanted to stop by and say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!
I'm 5'11" and I love to sport high heels. I always say that with a size 11 foot, flat shoes end up looking like water skiis. But when I'm in my 3" wedges, I do tend to tower over people. Who am I kidding, I don't mind that at all. I love being tall!
I think we tall girls are the reason guys are so self conscious about their height. Guys are supposed to be taller, right? Pshaw! My hubby is an inch taller but as previously mentioned, my penchant for heels does require that I lean down for a goodbye kiss. But gentlemen, if your diminutive stature doesn't bother us, it shouldn't bother you!
