Buttercup's Big Mouth

Buttercup has always been queen of the one liners and quotables. She actually, at one time, said "Dweams do come twue". So funny. She was the instigator of a large family squabble. We had a big family dinner in preparation for a family member's wedding and also as a bit of a surprise party for my mom's birthday. The family member and fiance got up and stormed out during dinner. Most of us were completely oblivious as to why. Come to find out, they were peeved because Buttercup told them not to kiss with their faces dirty. And they got offended and stormed out without saying anything to anyone. Seriously.
Another time we were driving down the road, Moe and another sister and the girls. I saw some gross guy walking along the side of the road. I said, "Hey Auntie J, I found you a boyfriend." Buttercup looked him over and said, " Auntie J, it's okay, you get skinny you can have a good boyfriend."
A few days ago, I dropped my hairdryer on my foot. Buttercup's response? "Mom you must have really big feet because people are always stepping on them or you are dropping stuff on them." Just for the record, they are a 9, which at 5'10" isn't really that big!
Yesterday morning I was disciplining the girls for playing 'tag' instead of getting ready for school. I made them take turns sitting at the table and getting ready. Buttercup got up to brush her teeth and left her notebook. I started to read what she had written. " I am mad. My mom yelled at me for playing with my sister. She should be happy I am finally getting along with her." Right...because it's so hard to get along with Fiona.
This made me bring up all of the things she has said over the years. She could not believe some of it. I am glad she is learning a bit more tact. Now, if she could get less irritated with me.
