The Emergency Room

I had another episode yesterday. When I say episode, it's like a contraction, during labor, in transition, that doesn't stop for 45-90 minutes. This was bad enough for TD to come home from work and discuss whether I should go to the ER. The cons significantly outweighed the pros. I wasn't vomiting or running a temp. Those things send me right in when it goes along with belly pain. They weren't going to do anything other than run tests, which was a pro because when I go to the doctor tomorrow, they are going to order all of those tests and I will have to wait to get them. But they would want to give me narcotics, might be a pro to some, but the vomiting I could do without. So I stayed in bed most of the day, the pain didn't go away as quickly as I had hoped, plus I think I strained my abdominal muscles from clenching for so long.

The girls, after their dinner, were outside playing in the cul de sac with the rest of the kids. Buttercup came crying to the back door, I assumed she had fallen off her bike. TD and I both got up and went quickly to the door. She blurts out, " Fiona has split her skin." Both of us take off running. It's amazing what a little bit of adrenaline can do for you. I don't think I could run today, 24 hours after the pain.

We get to the middle of the cul de sac where our wonderful neighbors are tending to her. Apparently she was riding one of their scooters when she fell off and the side of the scooter continued over her leg. They said she was going to need stitches before they even removed the dish towel that was covering it. It was quite the gaping hole. TD picked her up, we left Buttercup with the neighbors and took off for our ER. It didn't take as long as it normally does, probably because she didn't need labs or fluids. The wound was deep enough that the doc closed the inside with stitches and the outside with staples.

When we got there, I was wondering if I should just make it a two fer. That way we can both get our problems taken care of. I can't believe that she did something like this again. Poor TD. I don't think he can get much grayer and yesterday, between Fiona and myself, we didn't help much.

I am so sorry! So you ended up at the ER anyway. Sometimes you can't catch a break! I hope you are feeling better. It looks like I am going to be in for a bunch of tests too. It doesn't sound like fun at all. Keep us posted.
