Fiona's Pretties

There were a few things I had been wanting to do with the girls before we fly back to Oregon for Moe's wedding. First, for Fiona, I wanted to let her get her ears pierced. I was going to let her get her ears pierced when she was bald. She gave it some thought, but ultimately she decided against it because she was sick of being poked. Then I told her she could get it when she was 8, but once again she was leery of being poked. During the summer she kept bringing it up, but I didn't want to shell out the cash when she was kind of half hearted. On Labor Day we were at the mall looking at dishwashers and Buttercup wanted to stop by Clarie's. I scoped out the prices and there were a few options for only $17. That was the cheapest I had seen, so I told her we should get it done. She started acting nervous about it, saying she needed to use the bathroom or wanted to come back later. I told her she had been begging for it and I wasn't going to come back to the mall for awhile. The lady that did it was great and after the first ear, Fiona jumped and then said, " Well, that wasn't so bad." She was very pleased when she was done.

The other thing I wanted to do for her was get a trim. I worried about the state of her curls. I wasn't sure if the weight of her hair was pulling down the curls or if she was outgrowing the curls. She has grown attached to her curly hair and the comments that everyone makes about it. It looks like the curls were combed out in the top picture, but Buttercup had been 'styling' it and then she slept on it. I took her to the salon after school one day and had it trimmed with the layers. My girls cannot have bangs (gotta love the cowlicks, Buttercup's is the worst!) and I like to start with the first layer right under the chin. When we were done, this was the result:

She was so happy that the curl was still there!
